Keep The Home Fires Burning

To complement the production of Oh What a Lovely War (at Grayshott Village Hall from 15-17th November) several local organisations had been creating inspiring and emotional exhibits inspired by the First World War, which were on display during show week.

The displays included contributions from:

Grayshott Heritage - An exhibition about life in Grayshott during the WW1

Ludshott Photographic Club - An exhibition about the preparation and production of the show.

Grayshott Pottery - An exhibition as to how they designed and made the commemorative poppies for the war memorial.

People who live at the Huntington and Langham Estate had been recording some of their favourite poetry from WW1.

Moorlands Lodge and Grayshott School were contributing art work and creative writing. Also, Year 6 from Grayshott Primary school were re-creating the Christmas Truce as part of the show.

Fiona Bayly owner of Pins & Needles had put together a beautiful and unique quilt with a number of different panels made by a group of quilters all from Grayshott, which was raffled off at the Saturday night performance. Local artists designed and painted a background for the stage set and Grayshott Jazz club were entertaining the audience with songs from the period before each performance.
